MONDAYITIS … CAN YOU BEAT IT?

Are you someone who finds yourself limping to the end of the week, and starting each Monday morning thinking ‘here we again?!’.

I’d say most of our clients feel this way when they first start training with us. Feeling like they’re simply hanging in there until the end of the week, the weekend goes by all too quickly and then all of a sudden it’s Monday morning again and they’re feeling just as tired and stressed as they did the week prior!

So if you’re in this camp too, read on!

In my experience, most people dread Mondays for a fairly simple reason. They’re overwhelmed by all of the things that are coming up in the week. And if you’re starting your week feeling this way, it’s no wonder you’re exhausted by Tuesday! And add to the mix the feelings of guilt that you’re not eating the way you want to, you’re not exercising regularly and you’re barely keeping in touch with friends & family.. it’s a mess!

So – what can you do about it?

Typically the reason you’re feeling so overwhelmed and exhausted due to the mountain of things you need to do, it’s due to the fact that you have no idea when or how you’re going to do them! You have no plan so it seems the only option is just to slog it out!

I RECOMMEND YOU DO 3 SIMPLE THINGS:

1. WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN.

Write down all the things you need to do for the week, preferably on a Sunday evening. There will be less than 10 crucial tasks for EVERYBODY! (if there’s more, you need to rethink what crucial is)

2. ALLOCATE WHEN YOU’LL DO THEM. ON WHAT DAY, AT WHAT TIME.

For example, if you know that you have 3 hours on Monday afternoon with no meetings before you need to pick your kids up, allocate that time to a task. Remove distractions during that time, get that one thing done, and then move to the next item.

3. LEARN TO SAY NO.

Repeat after me.. ‘No I’m sorry I can’t make it to X, I have to get Y done this week’. Obviously don’t do this for really crucial things (friends & family time IS crucial too) but your time is precious, you need to learn to prioritize.

If the above hits home, please try the 3 simple steps and let me know how you go!
